Reforestation

We planted some old pastureland that is too steep to hold its soil and that should never have been cleared in the first place.

As you can see in this picture, the far slope shows stripes where the reforestation is happening. (You can also see the well-known Guadalupe vineyard at the very top of the ridge. They are our neighbors to the south.)

[Edit] Unfortunately, the year that we planted all of these trees turned out to be a drought, and we lost almost all of the Doug firs that were planted. The ponderosa pines have a better survival rate, and we’ll see what happens!
